Arthur “Archie” Jerome Davis was born January 29, 1954 to the late Andrew Leonard and Julia Lee Davis in Wichita, Kansas. He was the 8th born of 10 children. Archie attended Wichita Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1973. Archie met Vicki Lynn Cunningham in Wichita, Kansas and they were married on January 29, 1977. They have two children, Dante Davis and Alicia Jones.
Archie was a dedicated truck driver for 30+ years and an avid CB’er known as “Lunchmeat.” He drove for several agencies including National by Products, City of Wichita, Austin Independent School District, Ace Contractors and Austin Oaks Hospital. With his great patience, he taught many people to drive and become licensed. In 1997, Archie and his family relocated to Austin, Texas, where he worked for Austin Independent School District as a bus driver; he was very influential to all the children he came in contact with.
Archie began to establish his relationship with God in 1997, when he met Apostle Henry Foster of Breakthrough Ministries in Wichita, Kansas. Archie helped establish and served in ministry as a lead usher and children’s church leader over the 15 years.
Archie had a great passion for serving others, and founded “Archie’s Detail Shop” where he used his charm, salesmanship and serving nature to not only clean cars, but set a standard of quality in the Austin area that brightened the smiles of all the people he encountered. He was known for having the cleanest truck in South Austin!
Archie was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather/Opa to not only his biological children but many who needed support, guidance or words of encouragement.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Julia Davis and his brothers Eugene Davis and Vernon Davis. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Vicki, children – Dante Davis, Alicia and Corey Jones, siblings – Johnnie Davis, Lillie and James Brim, Fronia and George Brown, Earnestine and Bobby Burris Sr., Carrie Davis, Charles and Peggy Davis, James Davis and 4 Grandchildren – Danyelle Davis, Tristan Davis, Lanaya Jones and Ky’lah Jones.
