Aurora Sherwood

Aurora “Dora” Sherwood April 24, 1921 – October 19, 2007 Our Beloved Dora completed her earthly journey and returned to her spiritual home Friday, October 19, 2007. She was born in Hutto, Texas on April 24, 1921 to Gabino and Maria Villanueva. Though she had a varied work life, she would always come back to her love of care giving, whether as an employee of the Home of the Holy Infancy Adoption Agency, run by the Sisters of Charity, or as the successful owner of the Sherwood Day Care, which she had for more than thirty years. Through her devotion to her work, she has cared for more than one generation of many families. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James, daughter Patricia (Patty) Hernandez, and brothers Jose Angel, John and Inocencio. She is survived by daughters Linda Sherwood, Elizabeth (Jeanne) De La Cruz and Son-in-Law Victor, sisters Celia Rousseau (Eddie) and Manuela Villanueva, and brother Daniel Villanueva (Nell). She also leaves eight granddaughters and one grandson, and six great-grandchildren. The Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 PM Monday, October 22, 2007 at Dolores Catholic Church, 1111 Montopolis Drive. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Thacker, Bethany Hernandez, Vincent and Mike Rousseau, Rick Vera and Anthony Sifuentes. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons Isaiah and Noah Roland and Matthew Medeiros. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
