Barbara Jean Boorman of Cedar Park, TX passed away on July 3, 2024 at the age of 80. Born on September 4, 1943 in Lackawanna, New York to Ralph and Grace Boorman. Barb passed due to complications of dementia and alzheimer’s also known as the long goodbye.
Barb is survived by her daughters Dawn Moonan (Mark Miller) and Debbie Woodall (Terry Woodall), her brother Gary Boorman, 6 nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Grace Boorman, ex-husband Raymond Moonan, sister Gayle Rogalski and sister-in-law Gail Boorman. Barb dearly loved her 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Barb married the love of her life, Ray Moonan shortly after high school in 1963. Barb was a stay-at-home mom to Dawn and Debbie until 1977 when Ray accepted a new job in Texas and they moved from Derby, New York to Cedar Park. She began working a few months after moving at Joann Fabrics then worked for the Hill Country News and many many years at J&M Printing. In 1990 Barb began her own cleaning business “You’ve Got it Maid” which she worked at until she was 77 years old. She loved walking her dog 3-5 miles each day with neighborhood friends. She was an avid knitter and crocheter. She attended several knitting groups to enhance her talents with like minded knitters. She loved making blankets for babies and socks for the family. Her love of yarn was evident when she passed and yarn was found in baskets, drawers, yarn bags, hope chests and many other places she could find to stow her colorful yarn.
Loving the outdoors, she could be found lounging in her pool during the summer with family and friends. She enjoyed life, traveling, cruising and taking her New York friends sightseeing in Texas. A definite spitfire with a very generous side. She was a member of Hill Country Bible Church and loved making banana bread for new members. She was a huge advocate for animals and made donations to various pet organizations.
Barb will be missed by all that knew her. A very proud woman that worked hard and played hard. Although they divorced, Ray and Barb are now living it up on their Harley in Heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 1, 2024, 1:00 pm, Hill Country Bible Church - North Auditorium, 12124 Ranch Rd 620 N, Austin, TX 78750.
