

Barbara was born June 15, 1927 in Chariton, Iowa, the eldest of nine children born to Clyde and Letha Murray. She graduated from high school in El Reno, Oklahoma. After returning to Chariton, Iowa, she met Raymond Ciskey and they were married on August 14, 1946. Over her lifetime she worked as a telephone operator, Western Union messenger, bookkeeper, and tax examiner. She was a nurturing mother and homemaker, always putting others first. Her cooking and candy-making were legendary. She enjoyed cheering on the University of Kansas Jayhawks’ basketball team, out guessing the contestants on the Price is Right, and solving mysteries on the Investigation Discovery channel.
She is survived by three sons: William (Nancy) of Hutchinson, Kansas; Michael (Roberta) of Bethel, Connecticut; Mark (Debra) of Monument, Colorado; and two daughters: Janice McLaughlin (David) of Austin, Kathleen Allbright (Charles) of Keller, Texas. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brothers Tom Murray of Estherville Iowa and Ron Murray (Linda) of Chicago Illinois; sister Kathy Murray Le Strange and her partner Roger Gilbert of Yuma, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, two brothers, three sisters, and son, Richard.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 followed by a Rosary at the Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks.
