Barbara Swartz, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013 in her hospital bed, due to health and medical complications. Born Barbara Dean Rustin on January 11, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri to Floyd and Ruby McGinnis Rustin.
Her siblings included Eugene Floyd, Betty Sue, and Glen. Barbara was baptized at age 8. Her surviving children include Pamela Sue Fisher, Sharon Kay Soberon, Sandra Dean Grottke, and Robert Shannon Boswell. She also has nine grandchildren.
Barbara and her children moved to Texas to live near her brother Glen in 1975. She had a successful career working at Jerrell. Inc. as a computer operator/manager for about 15 years. While in Texas she met her beloved husband, Harry Swartz. This relationship sparked her inner yearning to decorate and remodel homes. Together Barbara and Harry began an adventure of remodeling their home in Irving, Texas. Wanting to be near family they moved to Lake LBJ in Texas. There they bought a condo and began a total redesign. This home on the lake that was designed to entertain family/friends and support their relaxed retirement. After people in the neighborhood saw their redesigned home, Harry and Barbara began remodeling other homes in the area.
Barbara and Harry had a wonderful relationship, enjoying their life together on the lake. These two love birds enjoyed their evenings watching the sun sets from their deck. Barbara’s favorite things were: raising/loving her dog’s, gardening, watching sunset’s, hiking and camping, taking boat rides, traveling, especially traveling to the beach, playing the piano, and being with family. She enjoyed having family over at the holidays and decorating for July 4 and Christmas. Everything had to be just right for guests.
The family wishes to thank everyone who provided assistance and love to our sweet mother. We especially wish to thank the Intensive Care staff of Seton Medical Center in Round Rock and Hospice. We wish to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers which provided comfort to the family. We also wish to thank those who provided meals to the family during this time.
A family memorial for Barbara was held at the lake house, sunset of course. Barbara will be missed, but always with us, especially when we are viewing a sunset.
