Barbara is my oldest sister. I miss her so much, she was my other Mother, exactly 10 years older than me. Barbara love to laugh. I don’t recall a single memory of her without her laughing. I remember she looked forward to Thanksgiving every year that was her favorite holiday and mine as well.  My memory of Barbara other than staying with her and Jim sometimes, I had a lot of fun over at their place, is one weekend Jim was out of town and Barbara stayed at home with us cause she didn’t like to be alone when Jim was out of town. I had twin beds in my room at that time and she slept in one and i slept in the other.  I heard her tossing and turning and I looked over at her and she sat up in bed, turned her head to the side and looked at me and started talking in Spanish and then turned her head back and laid back down .to this day. I do not know what she was saying, but whatever it was she needed me to know ha ha I miss you Barbara and I love you very much. It’s so hard to believe that you’re gone but I know that you’re at peace and no longer suffering.

Barbara was my oldest sister, 5 years older than me.  I always looked up to her when we were growing up.  She was fun, beautiful, and I always admired her clothing style.  One day I was looking for a dress to wear for my high school senior picture when I stumbled on the perfect dress.  It was one of Barbara's.  She was not home to ask, so I wore it without permission.  I thought she would never find out, until - the pictures arrived in the mail at our house.  I was admiring the pictures when Barbara suddenly walked into the house.  She asked me what I was looking at and I told her they were my senior photographs.  She asked to take a look.  Before I let her see the pictures, I asked if I could borrow one of her dresses.  She looked puzzled, then said yes.  I then showed her the pictures of me already wearing one of her favorite dresses.  She looked at me with her mouth wide open.  I wasn't sure what was going to happen next, but then we both just started laughing.  After we composed ourselves she took a look at the pictures and told me I looked great in her dress.  She was a wonderful sister and I am going to miss her terribly.  Rest In Peace Barbara. I love you.

I remember Barbara as a kind, sweet friend that liked to engage with others. Fond memories with Barbara go back to high school days & Double RRs, party life as roommates, memorable ski trips and trips to Pt. A, and good times at get-togethers & high school reunions. I will miss you dear friend.

Even though we lost touch after graduating high school, I say that I’ve known Barbara since 3rd grade at Sacred Heart. One of my fondest memories, and a story I sometimes still tell, is of my friendly, but fierce competition in math class with Barbara in 5th grade. Our math teacher was the wonderful Sister Robert Ann, who had created a game she called “Math-O.” The class was divided up randomly into four teams, with each group lined up in a row. One from each team at a time would go to the blackboard and Sister Robert Ann would call out a math problem. “247 x 38” ... as she called it out, the students at the board would write it on the board and have at it. The winner of each round could continue, and eventually, it was usually me against Barbara as the survivors.  We were pretty evenly  matched. But what I will Always remember is the way Barbara would literally attack the blackboard. She was so quick and so determined, pieces and dust of chalk went flying everywhere as she pounded the blackboard, solving the problem. It’s funny how a particular memory stays with you, but that’s how I remember Barbara. RIP.
