

Beatrice Hope "Tizzie" Tisdale Hope was born on July 5, 1918, to William Royston and Beatrice Ethel Tisdale. Hope graduated from Coleman High School in 1936 at the age of 17. She graduated from the Texas State College for Women in 1941, and began her career at the new Pease Elementary school as an elementary physical education teacher. When the war took most of the male teachers, she became the boy's football and baseball coach. Hope worked for the State Health Department from 1947-1949. In 1949 Hope went to work for the Texas School for the Deaf as the physical education teacher, a position she held until her retirement. She served as a playground leader for the Austin Parks and Recreation Center during the summers from 1944-1973. Hope was a member of the Austin Women's Bowling Association for 58 years and served on the Board of Directors. She was honored with the AWBA Hall of Fame Award and Life Membership and served on the Texas Women's Bowling Association Board of Directors and is a Life Member. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 67 years. Hope is survived by her sister, Mary Yarbrough of Saginaw, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, Suzanne Carlson and twin daughters Carol and Cheryl, "No. 1" daughter Mary L. Wilson and a host of former students and friends. Special "THANKS" to Dennis and Mary Ellen Moore her devoted caregivers. Hope will be interred in Coleman, Texas in the Tisdale plot next to her mother and father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Austin 600 Club Scholarship Fund, Austin 200 Club or a favorite charity.
