Ben Cruz

Ben Cruz beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 14, 2008 after a short illness. He was born in Hunters Bend, TX on September 28, 1923. Ben lived a full and active life in Austin, TX. In 1986 he and his wife, Jerry moved to Bastrop after building their dream home! Ben retired at the age of 62, got bored and started a second career at Wal-Mart in Bastrop. He loved sports, working in his yard but mostly spending time with his family and socializing...enjoying life. Ben is survived by his wife of 61 years Jerry; three daughters, Terrie (Manuel) Navarro, Olga (Sisto) Hernandez and Anita Cruz; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Judy) Cruz; sister, Consuelo Saucedo. Serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers, will be his grandchildren, Bennie Estrada, John David Flores, Manuel Anthony Navarro, Kenny Barrera, Orlando Navarro, Paul Hernandez, Lisa Flores, Annette Green, Lete Espiritu and Gilbert Hernandez. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Wilke Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
