Berk was an excellent lawyer and a true gentleman of the old school---he was always prepared, always kind and considerate to others, always knew the applicable law, always worked hard for his clients, but more than all of that, he was a joy to be around. He had a great sense of humor, and he was very well-read.
We will all miss you, Berk , my old friend.

Our dear friend Berk will be truly missed. Through the years we have enjoyed delicious dinners, wonderful conversations, and a lovely friendship. Berk had an amazing way of telling a story that kept you intrigued until the end. He had an incredible talent for making "Sunsticks" from sunflower stems. Unbelievable!! Berk and Dorothy hold a very special place in our hearts.

Berk was one of the finest lawyers and nicest people I have ever known. My late husband, Stuart Kinard, was a good friend to him also.
Rest in Peace.

I knew Berk for over 35 years at the courthouse, and was proud to call him a friend. Berk was a great lawyer, respected by all, and a unique guy. He was supremely learned in the law but in so much else as well. You couldn't chat with Berk and not learn something new---his knowledge was broad and deep! He was a complete gentleman and he brought dignity and wisdom---and wit---to every courtroom in which he spoke. He will be sorely missed.

Always willing to share. Always with a smile. Ready to fight for his clients and help his colleagues. Some strive to be original - others just by their nature are.

'kua hinga te kauri o te wao nui a Tāne' A very, very sad day on finding out about one of our group members Berkley Bettis passing away. Berkley was a good man who helped me and many others out immensely with his knowledge when I first joined the forums. I will always be grateful to him for his honesty as well as sharing his knowledge freely with us all. My condolences to his family, he will be greatly missed by myself as well as all his other friends in the Khukuri world.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Berk. He left us too soon but we will cherish the memories of him thru all the years of family gatherings and events that he was part of. Our prayers go out to Dorothy that she find strength during this difficult time.
