Bertha was born to McKinley and Victoria Clark on November 4, 1931. She was the fifth child born to this union. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Gildon Creek III Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.H. Penn.
Bertha graduated from Manor High School and went on to marry William McKinley Brooks, Sr. and from this union was born three children: William McKinley Brooks, Jr., Denice Brooks and Jason Ansara Brooks. On December 1, 1961 Bertha married Willie Nora Clark, Jr (SSGT, US Army, Retired) and from this union was born three children: Mary Etta Clark, Baby Boy Clark and Donna Clark-Robinson. Shortly after this marriage, she traveled with her new husband and family to Augsburg, Germany were they lived for five (5) years. Bertha returned home and dedicated the remainder of her life to home healthcare services and retired after thirty (30) years of service. Although she had retired, she was still a care-giver to others, including: her mother, Victoria Henderson, Husband, Willie Nora Clark, Jr., son, Jason Ansara Brooks, brothers, Alonzo and Donal Clark and many others.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Victoria Clark, brothers, Randolph, Alonzo, Donal, Joe and Ike Clark, sisters, Francis Clark-Monroe and Mary Magaline Clark and sons, Baby Boy Clark and Jason Ansara Brooks. She leaves to cherish in her memory, son, William McKinley Brooks, Jr. (Diana), daughters, Denice Brooks, Mary Etta Clark and Donna Clark-Robinson (Hollis). Siblings, Kenny Clark (Shirley), Glen Clark, McKinley Clark (Mary), Sidney Clark, Theresa Clark-Scott, Betty Jean Clark-Randolph (Levi), Larry Clark (Eddie). Grandchildren, William Brooks III, Mehcad Brooks, Britney Turner, Shari Velasquez, Lynnsee Boyse (Kyle), Camille Robinson, Hollis Robinson, Jr., as well as a host of loving, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 21st of August 2015, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 22nd of August 2015, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5900 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78723. A reception will be held from two o’clock until four o’clock at Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
