

Bertha Nadine (Emery) Graves was born in Abernathy, Texas to Pittman and Ruby Lee (Hoover) Every. She attended Lubbock High School and married Paul Clifton Graves on December 23rd, 1940, prior to World War II. They were members of Pioneer Park Church of Christ for many years residing in Lubbock , and raising four children together, until she was widowed June 24th, 1977. at the age of 54. She moved to Austin, Texas in the early 80's near her children, where she lived independently for the remainder of her life.
Nadine was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend, enjoying various family gatherings and playing games; Bingo, scrabble, skipbo, reading and working crossword puzzles. She had a great love for music entertainment. She enjoyed painting and working along side her husband on occasion, participating in PTA, Scouts, church functions and American Legion Auxiliary activities. she was also a member of the Golden Rule Dance Club at the Senior Center. She was a gracious hostess, putting others before herself, making each one feel special. She loved young people and was very interested in their pursuits, always encouraging them.
Nadine was primarily a homemaker, working seasonally at the USDA Cotton Classing Office, and retired a 10-year employee working in the electronics industry for Litton Industries in Lubbock and then studied and earned her license for real estate prior to selling her home and moving to Austin.
Three children survive her: Carolyn Coffey, Paula Norrid (Bill), and Harold Graves (Todd) all of Austin, TX.; her daughter-in-law, Maxine Akins Graves of California; her brother, Harold Emery (Venera) of Amarillo, TX, and in-laws Jim Jarrell (WA, Margaret Moore (NM), Lorraine Graves (Wichita Falls, TX)
Her 4 grandchildren: Ginger Lee (Graves) Aguilar (Frank); Kelly Coffey (Kim), Melissa Leatherwood, and Colby Coffey (Alana).
Her 11 Great-Grandchildren: Clifton, Crystal and Jacob, Kasey and Kalli, Kelly Shane and Chance, Susan, Samantha, Malory, and of course "Maggie Moo". A special place in her heart was reserved for her many generations of nieces and nephews and her dear friends in Lubbock and Austin.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, P.C., her son, Clifton Wayne Graves of CA, her parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters, and many close friends.
Memorial services by Rev. Danny Lucas of Amarillo, at Resthaven's Abby Chapel in Lubbock, music by Doug Stone and Friends, Monday, July 23, at 10:00 AM.
