Betty was born to Bee and Ethel (Kirby) Cowan on February 29th, 1924, and passed away on January 9th, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Gwyn Childress, of Austin, Texas and her daughter, Gwyn Madden of Anchorage, Alaska. She is survived by a niece, Susan Kibbey of Sandia, Texas; also by three great nephews, Casey Hunt and wife, Denise, Kris Shirey and Kody Shirey, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. Also, survived by 5 great, great nieces and nephews: Savannah & Jacob Hunt, Kaleb, Aidan & Kole Shirey. She touched so many lives with her love and compassion; the friends who loved her are too numerous to count. Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, January 13th, 2010, at approximately 1:00 pm at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your charity of choice.
