

Betty FItzgerald, 89 of Austin, Texas left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 9, 2010. “Nanny”, as she was affectionately know by almost everyone who knew her was born in Durant, Oklahoma to the late Coleman and Eunice Edna Hodge. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Ann Goolsby, her husband Jack Fitzgerald of Austin, Texas, brothers U.L. Hodge of San Marcos, Texas, Roy Hodge and his wife Allie of Fort Worth, Texas, and Willie (Tuffy) Hodge and his wife Eleanor of Alvin, Texas. Betty is survived by 3 sons, Jimmy Goolsby and his wife Mary of Cedar Park, Texas, Bud Goolsby and his wife June of Lubbock, Texas and L.C. Goolsby and his wife Wanda of Taylor, Texas, 15 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Betty Fitzgerald lived a simple and content life and loved her family with all her heart. Of all the treasures the world could offer her, she loved watching baseball, reading and her favorite soap operas most of all. Most would say that her gift was encouragement because no matter how bad things might seem, she always had some positive word to say to make things seem better. Family visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 12, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 P.M. and the funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. and will be held at the Cook Walden Funeral Home on North Lamar in Austin, Texas. Pallbearers are James Goolsby, Allen Goolsby, Jeff Goolsby, T.J. Crawford, Jake Thielman, Jason Routh and Zeke Thielman. Great Grandsons will function as honorary Pallbearers.
