Beulah was born on August 25, 1932, in Fairland, Texas, to parents Sam Riley Ferguson, Sr., and Clara Elizabeth Tumlinson Ferguson.
Beulah grew up in a family of 6 brothers (Lee David (LD), Vernon, Deward, Lyndon, Sam, and Larry) and 1 sister (Katherine) in Fairland and Marble Falls, Texas.
Beulah began her career with the civil service in San Antonio, where she met her husband, Joseph Robert Mills, Sr. The Air Force took them to Oklahoma, Colorado, and finally back to Texas. Beulah worked for the IRS in Austin until her retirement in 1996.
Beulah was a kind, generous, and loving woman whose warmth and laughter touched everyone who knew her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a delightfully silly personality that could brighten any room. She was well loved by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, creating fond memories and lasting friendships along the way. An avid reader, she could often be found with a good book in hand. She loved shopping trips, dining out with family and friends, and rarely missed an opportunity to watch Wheel of Fortune. She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. Music was another great love in her life, especially the timeless songs of Elvis Presley.
More than anything, Beulah treasured time spent with the people she loved. Whether gathered around the table, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying each other’s company, she cherished every moment with family and friends. Her love, laughter, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Beulah is survived by her children, Joseph Mills, Jr. and wife Loretta, Cynthia Mills, Tina Mills Plummer and husband Paul; grandchildren Joseph Cano, Richard Cano and Autumn Thomas, Bobby Mills, Sammy Mills, Mike Hinojosa, Paul Hinojosa, Brodie Plummer, and Samantha Plummer; her great-grand children Logan and Ryan Hinojosa, and Taylor Thomas; brother Sam Ferguson; sister-in-law Retta Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers and 1 sister; her husband; and her son Randel Dale Mills.
