Bill Carl Potts

Bill Carl Potts, age 84, of Austin, Texas was born on May 16, 1940 in Galveston, Texas and peacefully left this earth on March 5, 2025. Bill worked 28 years for Mrs. Baird’s Bakery, he was a very valued and loyal employee. He was a 5th generation descendant of German immigrants who originally settled in Galveston. Bill attended school in Galveston at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lovenberg Junior High and Ball High School. He had many fond memories of playing football during his school years. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a soft spoken man, a good listener and kind to everyone. His calm nature and gentle smile will be missed.

His parents moved the family to Bastrop, Texas in 1960. This was an opportunity to leave behind the coastal Texas hurricanes and be closer to family in Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville. Bill worked as a volunteer fireman, ambulance driver and at his father’s restaurant the Dairy Cone. He enjoyed listening to Country music, riding bulls and watching football, baseball and wrestling. In the mid 60’s his sister Linda introduced him to the love of his life Doris. Bill and Doris were married in 1971 and had 51 wonderful years together. He was a loving and devoted husband who adored his wife and family. Bill always had a strong faith in the Lord and it showed in the way he lived his life.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife Doris Attal Potts, son David Carl Potts and Brother Raymond Potts. Bill is survived by his sister Linda Potts Jarosek, son John Pollett and wife Brenda, daughter Diane Alencar Shaya and husband Salim, grandchildren Emily Reeves, John Aaron Pollett, Robert Tom Alencar, great grandson Bennett Reeves and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Pall Bearers will be John Aaron Pollett, Robert Tom Alencar, Salim Shaya and Anthony Rizzo.

Viewing will be 10:30-11:30 am Friday, March 28. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:30 am at Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731 and burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery located at 3650 S IH 35 Frontage Road, Austin, Texas 78704.
