

B.J. "Bill" Whitworth, 85, passed away on January 1, 2007. The memorial service was held January 3 at Weed Corley Fish in Austin, TX. Bill was the oldest of six children born to V. H. and Cora Whitworth of Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clinton Ray. Loving husband, father, granddad, and Papa, Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary; son Bill, Jr. and wife Susan; daughter Donna Whitworth; grandchildren Regina Ralston and husband Blaine, Bill III and wife Cara; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Lauren, and Kendra Ralston; two brothers, two sisters, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and numerous devoted friends. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was graduated with honors from Texas Tech and Rice universities. A resident of Houston for more than 50 years, Bill retired from Hughes Tool Co. after 35 years of service. Bill participated in multiple community and charitable activities. He was a long-time member of South Main Baptist Church of Pasadena. Bill and Mary moved to Austin in 2003 to be near their children. He loved the Lord, his family, and his country and lived a life of integrity.
