

Born on March 13, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, Robert was the son of Joseph L. and Rita N. (Migneco) Menendez. His parents preceded him in death.
Known to his family and friends as Bob, he graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis in 1965, and received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Missouri ~ St. Louis in 1969. After graduation, Bob worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft until 1976, when he joined Southwestern Bell / SBC Communications in St. Louis, and later transferred to Austin, Texas, where he was employed until he retired in 2003.
Bob loved living in Austin and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. He was an avid golfer and active member of Great Hills Country Club, where he served on numerous committees over the years and was on the Board of Directors from 2003 until 2006, including a term as President from 2005 to 2006. Bob was a life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. One of his greatest heroes was Cardinals’ outfielder and first baseman Stan “The Man” Musial. In Bob’s younger years, he was a champion bowler and was named St. Louis Bowler of the Year in 1968. Other hobbies included fishing and gardening. He was a loyal friend, devoted brother, and loving father. He earned the admiration and respect of all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Julienne Menendez Villarini; brothers, Joseph A. Menendez (Elizabeth), and Richard S. Menendez; sisters, R. Janette Bettison and Linda J. Martens; nephews, Timothy J. Martens and Theodore J. Menendez (Crystal); and nieces, Amy B. Martens and Megan A. Menendez.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m., on June 29, 2010, at Great Hills Country Club, 5914 Lost Horizon Drive, Austin, Texas 78759.
