

Bob Stone, 76, of Austin passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Stonebridge Health Care Center in Austin, Texas with his loving wife Betty and family at his bedside. He was born October 14, 1934 in Dallas, TX to Emma Beatrice Marcia Stone and E.C. Stone.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 -1956. After serving his country he began to work for Classified Parking System in Ft. Worth and Dallas, TX. Bob was transferred to Austin in 1958 to work with the Commodore Perry Hotel. In 1956 Bob met the love of his life Betty Novy and they were married on June 26, 1959 in Ennis, TX. In 1966 he became an Independent Dealer for Exxon and Texaco for over 36 years. Upon Bob’s retirement he worked for McCoy’s Building Supply in Cedar Valley, TX for over 7 years.
Bob was a member of many organizations: Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree), St. Ignatius’ St. Vincent de Paul Society and Men’s Club, South Austin Civitan Club, Oak Hill Optimist where he coached baseball and softball, Independent Garagemen’s Association, Travis County Sheriff’s Posse, and captain of his ushering team at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church where he was a longtime member.
Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandfather “Paw Paw” and great grandfather.
Bob was preceded in death by his father E. C. Stone, mother Emma Beatrice Stone, and brother Gene Stone. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Betty Stone; daughters, Anita Luepnitz and husband Glen, Carla Ross and husband Leroy, Dianna Knight and husband Vince, Christie Stone; and son, Jeff Stone. Grandchildren, Ryan Lynn, Meagan Wempe and husband Greg, Landon Ross and wife Cassie, Cody Ross and wife Ali and Trey Ross, Caitlin McLaughlin, Amber Stone, Shelby and Dalton Knight, Ryan and Kyle Stone and their mother Tish Stone; five great grandchildren and other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd., Austin, TX 78749. The committal service will follow on the same day at 2:00 p.m. in Georgetown, TX at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, 330 Berry Lane.
The family would like to extend special acknowledgements to the staff of Stonebridge Health Care Center and all of the wonderful people who helped Bob, especially his new best friend “Victor”, making every effort to keep him comfortable in his final days.
