

Bonnie (Collins) Pierson passed away June 2, 2014. She was born November 4, 1943 in Corsicana, Texas to Reba and Bill Collins. She grew up in Alvin, Texas and graduated from high school there in 1961. She went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a B.A. in English and French. While teaching at Cy-Fair High School, she earned her Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1968 from the University of Houston. Upon completion of her Master's she worked as a Middle School Counselor in Cy-Fair ISD. In 1968 she met Benny Pierson, they married in 1970 and moved to Austin where she became a Middle School Counselor first at Del Valle ISD and then in Eanes ISD. She retired the first time in 1999. She returned to counseling in 2003 as an Elementary Counselor in AISD. She finally retired in 2010. She loved working with students of all ages and always said she never spent "A Dull, Boring Day" with kids. Throughout her life Bonnie was very involved in her Professional Association (Texas Counsel Association) serving as its President and being named as the Outstanding Counselor in Texas. She was also very involved in her church at Westlake Hills Presbyterian having found Christ for the second time in her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benny; step-son, Ben; grandson, Greg Hicks.
Bonnie is survived by her aunt, Evelyn Smith; four cousins, Sue Wilson, David Lee Wiggington, Pete Wiggington, Carol Joy Bailey; her step-daughter, Kitty Hicks of Austin; step-son, Richard Pierson and wife Kathryn (Lott) Pierson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her daughter-in-law, Becky (Gibbs) Pierson of Coppell, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Luke Pierson of Coppell, Texas, Lindsey (Pierson) Wilson and her husband Billy Wilson of Coppell, Texas, Evan Pierson of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Ashlie Morrison of Little Rock, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kaleigh Hicks (and their mother, Starla) of Austin, Texas, David Morrison-Heird of Little Rock, Arkansas.
