Brandon Scott Brewer was born March 8, 1978 in Austin, Tx. Brandon was a happy baby. From the very start he carried a resilience that would mark the years to come, meeting each season with endurance, patience and a steady compassionate heart. Brandon’s grandparents played a central role in his childhood. His days were filled with hunting alongside his dog, fishing and discovering his love of farm life.
Brandon attended elementary in LaGrange, TX where friendships came easily and weekends were filled with sports with his dad Mark coaching his teams. At age 12 Brandon and his family moved to Austin, TX where life began to ask more of him. Determined and ready to move forward he left high school and completed his GED through Austin Community College at age 16.
Brandon attended Austin Community College, Temple Community College and Texas A&M University. He earned Associates Degrees in Culinary and Business Management as well as his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Brandon loved his family first and foremost. He loved interacting and helping everyone he met, including strangers in need. Giving of himself every chance he could. He would say “I want to give back”, and he lived it. He worked on the family farm where he planned on spending his life. He was a dreamer with so many aspirations and plans for the future. Always directed towards how he would be able to give back and continue to help and take care of his family and friends. Brandon carried an inspirational hope for what community could be, inspiring to create a fruit orchard for others to share. It is and will be a simple, beautiful vision rooted in care, shaped by hard work and offered in the same uplifting spirit that defined his life.
From age 19 to 46 Brandon was incarcerated. Even within that long difficult chapter, with the unwavering love of his mother, Brandon learned how to survive. He taught kindness, learned people skills, self taught crafts and obtained many friendships that lasted a lifetime. An inspirational steadiness that did not depend on circumstance.
When Brandon came home he began his new chapter. He worked at the Arch, a homeless shelter in Austin as a maintenance technician while taking classes at Austin Community College. There he obtained his Commercial Drivers License with the goal of traveling and discovering as many places as he could. He got a job working nights for Ally-Valet Service while simultaneously joining the carpenters union. He became a journeyman carpenter and began installing metal siding while continuing to work evenings up until April 15, 2026.
Those who knew Brandon will remember the fateful and generous spirit he brought to the people and things he loved. He found joy in leather works, painting, drawing and in the companionship of his animals. Just as meaningful was his instinct to help people, an everyday kindness that became one of the most cherished parts of who he was.
“Look for the helpers.”
- Fred Rogers
Brandon is survived by his parents, Mark and Peggy Timmons, his siblings, Amy and Steven, his nieces and nephews, Radley, James, Maddox and Birdie, his beloved cats Phantom and Butterscotch as well as extended family and a wide circle of friends who will carry his memory forward. He leaves behind a collection few could fathom, an immeasurable amount of gadgets and now we have two cats. Brandon loves you all.
Brandon’s favorite saying was:
I want to live my dreams not dream of living.
