Brian met the love of his life, Dawnita Nixon while attending the University of Texas in Austin. They later married on July 15, 1995 in Kingsville, TX. Brian graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Environmental Science, both from the University of Texas. Upon graduation he began his career as an editor for Ralph McElroy Translation Company where he had since been employed.
Brian had a passion for gardening, and was an avid reader. He was a rabid UT fan who liked dabbling in culinary arts. Nieces and nephews will always have fond memories of Uncle Brian playing board games as well as electronic games with them. Most importantly Brian was a dedicated father to his son, Jake.
Brian is preceded in death by his mother, and a sister, Susan Nix.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Dawnita Nix; son, Jake Nix; sister, Julie Weis and husband Jeff and their children Elizabeth and Claire; father, Joe Nix and numerous other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel with Rev. Peter Castles of Manchaca United Methodist Church officiating. Following the services a gathering will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Shady Hollow Community Center.
