In those 93 years she enjoyed a full and colorful life and accomplished a great deal. After completing nursing school in New England she went on to become a career Air Force officer serving at key installations around the world and retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. Being a head nurse for the bulk of those years let you know she was as accomplished at leading a team of nurses as she was working closely with doctors in the operating room.
Dona, as she was known, had a tender, sensitive side. She enjoyed art and music of all kinds, but don’t let that convince you that she was a softie. If you slipped up in the least you might just see that head nurse/ LTC side come out and set you straight. It was a pleasure to get to know her these past nearly 20 years and to eventually call her a friend. She helped a great many people in this life and she will be missed.
