Buddy worked the family farm in Dorsey, Nebraska as a young boy, and served in Company B of the 145th Infantry 37th Division as the Korean War came to a close. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and worked at General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky and IBM in Lexington, Kentucky and Austin, Texas. Buddy is remembered for his robust handshake which remained strong and welcoming even through recent years with Alzheimer's disease. It was his way of saying "Hello, Great to see you, Love you, and Come back soon." While Buddy had a humble, steady, practical, helping manner, he loved a great laugh, sported a bit of orneriness, and cherished playful times with his grandchildren on the lake and at the beach.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday August 24, 2015, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas.
