

Born January 6, 1958, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Byrl grew up in Springfield, Missouri, attending Glendale High School (Bicentennial class of 1976). Byrl met her husband Dave while attending William Woods College, Fulton Missouri. She graduated in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Married for 44 years, they had 2 daughters, Anna Mae and Bethany Byrl.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Herbert Leonard Warres and Betty Byrl (Clark) Warres, both of Springfield, Missouri and her father-in-law Walter Christ Leeker of St. Louis, Missouri.
She is survived by husband David Scott Leeker, 2 daughters, Anna Mae (Mark) Walters and Bethany Byrl (Michael) Muela all of Austin, Texas, sister Dr. Charlene Mae (Forrest) Bayer of Marietta, Georgia, brother Edward Clark Warres of Newnan, Georgia, mother-in-law Betty Jane (Toelle) Leeker of St. Louis, Missouri and brothers in-law Craig (Lauren) Leeker of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Douglas Leeker of St. Louis, Missouri. Also, grandchildren William David Walters 8, Abigail Mae Walters 6, Lillian Jane Walters 2, Charlotte Byrl Muela 1, Janie Scott Muela 1 month and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Byrl retired in 2024 after 38 years of teaching, where she was most recently teaching English at New Hope High School in the Leander Independent School District. Byrl enjoyed traveling and was especially partial to European River Cruises, most recently taking a London-Paris-Normandy Cruise this past May. Byrl was a volunteer at the Charlie Center, a homeless hospitality and navigation center in north Austin. Byrl enjoyed time with family and friends and had a close connection with the “Cedar Park Needlers”, cross stitching friends that met to stitch every Friday. Byrl also enjoyed time with her 4-year-old English Bulldog, “Snacks”. Byrl was a loving wife, mother, gram, and friend to many.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make donations to the Charlie Center in honor of Byrl Ann.
