Carlo Gabriel Botello, 52, resident of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer while surrounded by his family on February 7, 2026. He was born to Deacon Richard and Irene Botello on September 6, 1973, in Austin, Texas.
Carlo began serving his community at just 16 years old, joining the Explorer Program with the City of Austin while attending William B. Travis High School. Upon graduation, he became an Emergency Medical Technician with Travis County, marking the start of a career defined by service, sacrifice, and leadership. Over the course of half of his life, he has served as an EMT, Paramedic, and Firefighter, where he retired honorably as Captain in 2017 with Travis County ESD 4. He then worked as a Paramedic Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College, Corrections Officer and Paramedic with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Senior Emergency Plans Officer with the City of Austin Department of Homeland Security, and finally worked as a Dispatch Officer at the Travis County Constable’s Office, where he planned to continue to serve his community.
He married Amanda Atchley in 2004, with whom he had two children, Hayley and Caitlyn. Carlo was always there for his family. He loved his daughters and being a girl-dad, and was always very protective of them. He loved his parents, Richard and Irene, and his two sisters, Yvonne and Kimberly, whom he also loved fiercely and protected. He was always a family man, having a great love for his niece and nephews. He loved his family dearly and was always serving them just as he did with his community.
Carlo showed up for others on their hardest days– running towards emergencies, mentoring future first responders, and protecting others without hesitation. He was always a motivator of others, encouraging people to become better daily. He loved music, and played the trumpet and tuba all throughout high school in his marching band and in mariachi.
Throughout his life, Carlo continued to grow in his relationship with the Lord. We rest easy knowing now that he is in the comfort of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, completely restored and pain-free.
Carlo is survived by: Amanda Botello, Hayley and Caitlyn Botello, Deacon Richard and Irene Botello, Yvonne and Kimberly Botello, and his nephews and niece.
Carlo is preceded in death by: Simon and Concepcion Botello, and Guadalupe and Ruth Martinez.
