When did i first met Carmen. When my family became her grandparents Castillo neighbors in 1983. I can not remember much since we were so little at the time. She was one of my Best Friends that really knew me. I remember when i got the call she had her first child Gracie. The light in her eyes and her smile. 2 yrs later she was there for me for my first born. We were always talking about what kind of moms we would be. The awesome part about Carmen was she never let us separate. Even though we got married and had kids. We never lost contact. When she started working at IHOP I became a regular customer. That was our time to catch up even if it was just for a fast catch up.
Do not know if your mom ever talked about the imperial valley neighborhood club house. That was where all the kids club house in our block were. No adults allowed was the sign everyone saw when you entered. A lot of great memories at the club house. I cannot give a lot of details but 1 of the rules what happen in there stayed there. 1 memory we had there was we were taking stuff from our houses and putting them in the club house. We did not think our parents were going to notice that furniture missing. Oh were we totally wrong. We got to off the bus from school. We all decided to head to the clubhouse. When we got inside our furniture was gone. We all thought we were robbed. We were all worried to let our parents know. We all were deciding who was strong enough to call the police. We walked out to help Carmen make the call, who was waiting for us our parents. We got in trouble really bad. Our parents robbed back their belongs. 😂
I will miss you BFF I will continue watching the kiddos. Watch out for Mom, monica, and freddy like family. I will try to keep them out of trouble. If they do you already know I will be in it too. 
To Gracie, Nallely, Mari, Luis, and Alexander- Know your mom left you all a little bit of her self within each of you. 
Sorry for the long post. Memories are long after 30+ years.

Carmen and I started off as servers together. She was the first person to really talk to me. She’d say good morning and start a conversation and later on, I began to seek her out. Carmen was always so kind and quick to stand up for what she believed in. We joked that she was the mama at the store, if anyone got out of line, we’d tell Carmen and she’d put them in their place. She listened to me and talked me through some of the hardest decisions of my life. She gathered me into her village and invited me to events and made me feel like I was a part of something. When I became a manager, she’d come into the office and we’d talk and talk until our coworkers started yelling for help and we’d continue the conversation periodically throughout the day. I looked up to her so much and I’ll miss her every day.

Comadre linda gracias por siempre estar ahí por mí y por mis hijos. siempre disfrutamos la vida juntas no cada duda que estás arriba sonriendo eres mi mejor amiga siempre le doy gracias a Dios por prestarme un tiempo aquí y ahora le toca a  el. sufriendo muchísimo por ti pero ya sé que estás descansando  en paz y todo va a estar bien comadre! Te lo prometo
