
It's hard to believe that it's been two years since Carmen left. I think about you all the time, I think about your kindness and how I wish I could be more like you. I think about the things you said to me about why you were so kind and try to live by those rules but it is so hard to see the good in people the way you did. I miss you so much. I miss your smile, your laughter, your way of thinking. The world needs more of you here. If every 100th person was as a kind, loving, caring, respectful, and compassionate as you; we would be in a totally loving world. One where laughter rather than pain and anguish engulfed our hearts, one where people smiled at others and laughed at themselves just because, the way you did. You may have left this world but you continue in mine and will be there until I can reach you in yours.  Say a little prayer for me just like you used to when you were here physically and if you can, send a little happiness down too; I miss you Carmen and no matter how long it takes to reach you, you will always be in my heart.



Carmen always went out of her way to help someone in need and she did everything with a smile.  It was a true pleasure to have known her and have her brighten my life.  She used to give me extra goodies in my goodie bag for volunteer events so I wouldn't get hungry.  Heaven is getting a really special angel!  My sincere sympathies to her family.  She touched so many lives and will be truly missed.



I remember the last time I volunteered for the SXSW service Carmen was coordinating.  In spite of the health challenges, she was still displaying that beautiful smile and spirit that all of us at Capital Metro came to know.  She was an inspiration to me to meet whatever challenges that life brings with an attitude of hope.  We all have the choice in hard circumstances of being the victim or using the situation to help heal others who may encounter a hard path.  Carmen was difinitely the healer.   

Carmen's inspiration will eternally be in our hearts. 





My Tia, my beautiful, loving, happy Tia i will miss you deeply. I would do anything for you and my Aunts, i could never tell you no, you brought me back to Austin when you got me a job with Metro, been here ever since. Glad i did, then started our road trips to Santa Fe and Bunco, ima keep it going like you asked. I will never forget our times at the drive in and babysitting for you. I love you and will never stop thinking of you. I will miss your intoxicating laugh and smile .



You are loved Carmen yesterday, today and into eternity. Every life you touched, you changed. Your smile was contagious. I will miss you and can truly say ACL will never be the same for me....you were a great organizer, hard worker and your leadership set example. In one of our last conversations we talked about the terrible woes of that awful "C" word....in our disscusion we talked about Jesus wrapping his arms around you and knowing that no matter the outcome of the disease you would be okay. I know in my heart that you are now truly okay; free of the binds of your earthly body and will forever be with us and our father forever. To Carmen's family I am truly sorry for your loss.

I have enjoyed knowing and working with Carmen for the past 5 years. She always had a smile on her face. When she was diagnosed with cancer we met and discussed the different processes since I had gone through treatment several years ago. I was amazed at how she came through chemo, always having something positive to say and never complaining. I recall the toll it takes on your body so I was amazed how well she did. She is a beautiful person and touched many peoples hearts and will continue to do so. My thoughts and prayers are with her family in this time of loss. 



I love you so much aunt Carmen. You were one of my favorite people in the world, with your strength and love for everyone and everything, you're going to be missed so dearly, I wanted you at my graduation the most,but I know that when I'm walking that stage and being handed my diploma, you'll be by my side walking me through it all.  I'm so happy I made you proud, you always told me I was beautiful and every time i believed it. I love you so much and I know you'll be watching me from above. Rest in paradise aunt Carmen, I love you. 



To my Tia I will always remember you all those nights I stayed over with Rene chilling out watching movies the pop corn u always poped in the pan all the times I was dropped off for ccd and went to your house  instead u never told my mom I loved you for that . I will miss you Tia

She came out there opened up the PC and change out the hard drive.  Carmen transferred to communications where she  worked organizing many  Special Events.  She always had a smile and a great personality.   She will be missed dearly.

I love you Tia Carmen,

I have the memories of you smiling at me and hugging me when you saw me for the first time since I had became an adult. You couldn't believe how much I had grown up. You knew exactly who I was without any question after not seeing me for a long time. You told me I was beautiful and you were happy. I will never forget that day! You will always be in my heart and you will live on through these memories. I know we will meet again one day but until then i'll carry your bright  spirit with me. I do not know what my reason for being here is but I know you have impacted my life and make me want to touch the life's of others. I have been blest and fortunate to have cross the path of Carmen Gonzales. My interactions with her were when she would come pick up her pay checks every other week. She would drop in and sit and we both would hold conversations about anything and everything. She is a beautiful and generous woman, made in the imagine our God above. Beautiful people leave footprints in ones live, and the saddness stays in the heart because of the impression one leaves. I believe,  because of the beautiful person she was, with all the goodness inside, is how I will remember her. I say a prayer for the family, look to God for guideness and healing. Look to family for love and support. And from us all the prayers.

Carmen always had a smile and a positive attitude.  She cared and loved her family with all her heart.  Her memories will always be with us here at Capital Metro.  She is one of those beautiful people you will never forget.

  Carmen came to work for us at Cepeda with her wide and wonderful smile and a wonderful attitude for her job.   She was always willing to help customers and staff with any small favor she could do from calling a ride for a child to swtitching or taking someone' night  if the need arose.

She was a wiz with computers and always  willing to lend a "tech support"  hand.

Dearest Carmen,
You are one of the gentlest and kindest souls I have ever known.  I know that you know how much you are loved and how much you will be missed.  I canâ€™t believe that I did not get you to give me the secrets for setting up an online auction or volunteer sheet, since we were unable to speak by phone last month!  You were always the great organizer of things and people!!!  But, I did get your advice and counsel on DBE issues when I took up my duties at VIA!  Thank you for helping me with my transition to my new job.   I will miss you, dear friend.  You were there to support me and love me during my own battle with breast cancer.  I still have the â€œholy dirtâ€ you brought me from the grotto in New Mexico to help me spiritually heal from all of the radiation treatments I had been through.  I also have the â€œVirgen de Guadalupeâ€ medal and Madonna statue you gave me.  They stand in my home to protect me.  I wish I could have protected you from all that you experienced that gave you pain or heartache.  I only know that I love you and I will miss you.  When we last really had a lengthy chance to visit at Mariaâ€™s wedding, my words to you were a message of hope; I hope they gave you some peace.  My memories are vibrant and full of good times, filled with laughter and quality time surrounded by close friends. The help you provided in setting up all of the volunteer work assignments for Capital Metroâ€™s Rail Opening, the 4:00 a.m. â€œTaco & Water Deliveriesâ€ you did when Capital Metro staff was working at the rail stations, the employee picnic arrangements, the office birthday decorations you always managed to do for staff, the sorting and organization of silent auction items for COMTO, etc.  There is so much to share and remember with great love and gratitude.  I canâ€™t forget our personal lunch outings or cocktail hours at the Baby Acapulco Restaurant on Riverside.   Clearly, I can see you throwing your head back in laughter, sharing jokes or family happenings.



Carmen will always be here, whether you believe in the religious version of eternal life or not. Carmen will live forever in my heart and in the heart of those she touched through her kindness and love.  To me, that is the eternal life; the memories we keep alive of the people that have since gone.

Carmen, I love you and always will. I am fortunate to have had the little time I had with you and am extremely blessed that you chose me!  I will see you soon, save a little space for me where you are because as soon as my mission is over, I will be right there by your and my mom and dad's side.




Words can never explain a loss as great when Carmen Gonzalez ascended into heaven this past weekend; God has selected his angel to watch over her family.  Carmen was a wonderful colleague in the DBE/SB field as we developed our friendship via many telephone calls between me and her through the years.  I will miss her wonderful demeanor and positive attitude.
