Carol Jeanette Harris was born to Mosby James Harris and Edna Beatrice Owens Harris on October 12, 1950. Carol will join them both at their Heavenly home where she will be welcomed by our God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will also receive a warm welcome from her siblings, Eddie Leroy Harris, LaVerne (Tittie) Harris Keyes, Mosby James Harris II, Beverly Ann Harris Collins, and her beloved dog Papa Jefferson. It goes without saying, That it will be a joyous reunion.
Carol attended these Austin area schools: L. L. Campbell Elementary, Kealing Jr. High, and the Original L. C. Anderson High School which she graduated from with the class of 1969. As a child she was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church where she remained until adulthood. She then joined Olivet Baptist Church where she remained in an inactive member until her death.
She started her career at the Four Seasons Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide upon graduating high school and within a few years, she became the Administrator of the facility. She was the one that had to make sure all the T’s were crossed and the I’s dotted. She traveled to different states for training and conferences. Carol had a certain aura and charm about her that attracted many. Her professionalism and charisma was noticed by one of the patients at the facility and he informed one of his friends about her and told him that he should look into hiring her. That friend was CEO/Owner of Cothron’s Lock and Bike Business. He did offer her the position of Lead Bookkeeper and she accepted. She remained there for 30+ years until her health began to fail.
Carol had a very comedic personality and was always sure to have you laughing and dancing at any family event. She loved having fun and cracking jokes with her quick wit that had everyone laughing until they cried. She was definitely one of a kind.
On a serious note, If you see someone you love not acting like themselves (forgetting things, explosives tempers, mood swings, or just doing something that is not conducive to their normal personality), please have them checked for Dementia because they won’t know to do it themselves. The quicker it is caught, the progression can be slowed down. There is no cure!
Carol leaves to mourn her homegoing the light of her life, her daughter, Patrice DeShon Harris Raglin (James). Two grandkids, Kiara Carter and Jordan Jefferson whom she also doted on and loved dearly. Her siblings Helen Marie Harris (David), Lois Mae Washington (John), Edna Beatrice Davis (John), and Ronald Eugene Harris. She also leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews who simply adored her as she did them and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Olivet Baptist Church, located at 1179 San Bernard St, Austin, TX 78702, on December 30, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.
