Carol A Hickman

Carol was born on June 15, 1940, in Whittier, California to Lauretta and Laurence Arzt. She grew up in Southern California prior to moving to Austin in the late Sixties. There she met her husband, Terry M. Hickman. They married and raised a family in South Austin; Donna, Susan, Becky and Scot Hickman.

Carol worked in the attendance office at Mendez Middle School for many years and took great joy in helping the children there. She retired from Austin Independent School District and devoted her later years to traveling with her family and taking care of her husband and grandchildren.

Carol was a family matriarch in every sense of the word. She was a rock to cling to, the ever-warm arms of compassion and our moral compass.

Survivors include her four children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and an amazing circle of friends.

Per her wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. Her family will reunite on her birthday to release her ashes and the ashes of her husband, Terry, who preceded her in death, at Inks Lake State Park where the family had spent so many wonderful summers.
