Carol entered this world on July 1, 1951 in Bryan, Texas to parents, Marion Newton Williamson, Jr. and “Tootsy” Jones Williamson. She was 6th generation Texan and very proud of her heritage.
Carol is survived by her husband Donald (Don), married for 44 years, and their 2 children, Abigail and Thomas. She was Nana to her treasured granddaughters, Farrah Sue (8) and Jemma Raine (4).
She is also survived by her brother Jimmy Williamson (Karen) of Brady, Texas, Stepchildren Suzie (Galveston) and David (NY), and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carol graduated from Bryan Adams High School (Dallas) and The University of Texas (Austin). She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha at UT and remained committed and active with her sorority sisters and a faithful UT fan. She later returned to college for her Master and PhD in Psychology.
When Carol and Don married, she became a “corporate wife” and committed to support his career in Advertising, which took them to Colorado, Atlanta, Los Angeles. As Don retired, Carol told him it was “time to go home”. She was going home to Texas and Don needed to come, also. Home was Lakeway, TX.
Carol was a very proud, Texas born woman and was involved with DRT (Daughters of the Republic of Texas), DAR (Daughters of American Revolution). She became the matriarch of 2 Texas ranches and was involved with managing them, and could be seen regularly tossing hay to their beloved Longhorns.
She had a passion and a gift for helping others. Her career expanded to include counseling many “at risk” families and children. She loved each of her “clients” and was committed to them. She was a gifted listener, and dedicated protector to so many of her clients. She was a philanthropist and quietly supported many causes. She changed lives with her passion of caring.
Carol was committed to many organizations and was often in leadership, fundraising and support. She loved a cause and a project and never hesitated to commit herself. Carol is a board member of Austin Women’s Club, a past President of Atlanta Junior League, became a Junior League Sustaining Member, a member of Women’s Club of Greater Lakeway, and various social groups with friends.
Carol was a devout Christian and lived her life to reflect her faith. She was dedicated to a small Bible Study group with friends, she attended The Riverbend Church, and lived her life as an example of her faith and service to others. We know that she was welcomed into Heaven by many angels, and her
Heavenly Father, after a “life well lived”.
Many will carry their own memories of time shared with Carol, including her dedication to family and friends, compassion, kindness, her leadership, her love of life and laughter, her concerns for the less fortunate, her humor and the twinkle of mischief in her eyes. And, of course, her love of pearls and her personal fashion style and that unconditional love of “all things Texan”. Carol had many friends and from all walks of life. She was such a great listener and was the guardian of so many shared secrets, that will remain with her always. She was a blessing to everyone that knew her.
