Carol E. Bridges Pearson

Carol graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Texas and received her BA in education from the University of Texas at El Paso. She later received her Masters of Education degree from Texas State University. Carol worked as a teacher for over 25 years, teaching elementary students. She was proudest of her students that went on her annual field trips to NASA in Houston and remarked that she hoped one day they would be inspired to work in the space program. She also thoroughly enjoyed oil painting, and crafting with her friends.

On November 26, 1953, Carol married A. Henry Pearson in Buffalo, Texas. They lived in Houston where Henry worked as a Civil Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation. They later lived in Detroit, Michigan, El Paso and Odessa, Texas and settled in Austin, Texas where Carol worked at T.A. Brown elementary until her retirement. She was a member of the Highway Retiree Spouses club and the Retired Teachers Association. She was married to Henry for 60 years.

Carol was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for 33 years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Preschool children. She was also a member of the Growing In Faith Together Bible Study (G.I.F.T.) group at Bethany.

Carol is survived by her husband, Henry, of Austin, TX, son, John, and his wife Sherri Pearson of Georgetown, TX; daughter, Lynn, and her husband Javier Rodriguez with 3 grandchildren, Micaela age 19, and twin boys Valentin and Rafael age 11 of Houston, TX; brother M.J. Bridges of Buffalo, TX; sisters Barbara Huebner of Amarillo, TX, Billie Peterson of Burns, Tennessee, and Geri Wink of Pueblo, Colorado; and a number of other relatives and close friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin, TX 78749 with Dr. William B. Knippa and Pastor Jim McHan officiating followed by a reception at Bethany. Interment will be at 2:30 P.M. at Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.

Honoring Carol as pallbearers will be Mark Thompson, Charles Bridges, James Grisset, Jode Peterson, Sid Stuewe and Eric Perez.
