Carol Legett Adams Yacono, 77, of Austin, Texas, was called home on January 8, 2024 at Avalon Memory Care in Cedar Park after a 10 plus year battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Carol was born in Freeport, Texas on May 20, 1946, to Bob and Irene Legett. She and her brother Daniel Legett grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and moved to Houston where she attended Spring Branch High School. While in high school, Carol was the Head Twirler, played the piano, and was an excellent student. Carol Graduated in 1968 and fulfilled her dream of attending The University of Texas at Austin.
Carol had two daughters, Jennifer Tesch Williams (husband Terry and Daughter Madelyn) of Melissa, Texas and Stephanie Tesch Studdard (husband Shawn and daughters Hollie, Kamryn, and Brooke) of Prosper, Texas. While Jennifer and Stephanie were growing up, Carol was heavily involved in their activities, including Troop Leader for Girl Scouts of America, Room Mom for PTA and school library volunteer.
In 1996 Carol achieved her goal of becoming a college graduate before the age of 50 by obtaining her Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree from St. Edwards University. That year, she also met the love of her life, Joe Yacono while playing bridge with friends. It was love at first sight and they were married 8 short months later where she gained three more children. Rebecca E. Yacono (wife Robyn Mabry) of Austin, Texas, Cristina Yacono Pitzer (husband Greg) of Oakland, California, and Joseph D. Yacono (wife Melissa and sons Jadan and Cameron) of Austin, Texas. She simply adored spending time with all her children and grandchildren and would take time to see them whenever she could.
Carol was an avid reader, loved working crossword puzzles, traveling, shopping, quilting, weaving on her loom and doing anything that had to do with her kids and grandkids.
Carol had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor to match. While Alzheimer’s robbed her of her mind and body, she was quick witted until the very end. She managed to make people smile and laugh all the way through her long illness.
The Family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Avalon Memory Care in Cedar Park for their love, dedication, and care they gave to our mom.
