

Carolyn Claypool, a longtime Austinite since 1960, passed away on March 16th, 2010. She was born in Williamsport, Indiana. Carolyn, her parents and brothers moved to Beaumont, Texas in the 1940's and the extended Claypool family has had their roots in Texas since that time. Carolyn went back to Indiana to attend school at Purdue University. During her time in Indiana, she became engaged and she moved to Houston, Texas to begin a life with her husband, Richard Bueche. They soon became a young family with daughters Shelley and Sherry becoming part of their household. Carolyn, Shelley and Sherry packed their bags and moved to Austin, Texas in 1960. Carolyn wanted to attend the University of Texas and promptly fell in love with Austin and lived there until her death in 2010. During her time in Austin she became involved in Republican politics and she and her business partner began a political consulting business in the mid-70's. They ran many local and statewide campaigns and spent time at Scholz's bier garten hanging out with the politicos. During this time Carolyn and her daughters started playing darts and Carolyn became the treasurer for the Austin Dart Association. In her later years, Carolyn Claypool was ill with pulmonary disease. She spent many years close to home with her beloved canine companions at her side. Carolyn spent the last week of her life resting comfortably at The Christopher House, with Hospice Austin. Carolyn Claypool was preceded in death by her parents Chester Burns Claypool and Florence Sheets Claypool, as well as her brother Robert Burns Claypool. Still here to miss their mother are her cherished daughters, Shelley and Sherry, along with their families. A celebration of Carolyn Claypool's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, there will be a graveside service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, on Hancock Drive, in north Central Austin. Also, a celebratory remembrance of all of the good times for Carolyn will be held at El Arroyo restaurant 7032 Far West Boulevard.
