

Carolyn was born September 21, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Maude and Ashby Atkinson, Sr. She was a gentle lady with Southern charms, and was devoted to her husband of 30 years, Adon Sitra, who preceded her in death.
Carolyn was raised in Vance, Mississippi, and graduated from Clarksdale High School. She graduated from Rhodes College, in Memphis, where she was a Campus Beauty and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Austin, Austin Assembly, The Dance Club and the Women's Symphony League of Austin. She and Adon supported numerous civic organizations, especially the First Tee of Greater Austin and the Austin Symphony, which they truly enjoyed and rarely missed a performance. She loved her life in Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brother, Ashby Atkinson, Jr., of Madison, Mississippi, and cousins, William Underhill and his wife, Joanette, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Martha Jean Underhill, of Avon, Mississippi. She is also survived by numerous friends, including Joe Gage, with whom she had a very special friendship during her residency at Longhorn Village, and longtime friends, Ann and Truman Breed, Sue and Tim Hill, Janie and Pat Boyle, and Will Holford.
Her friends and family extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Joe Gage and to the staff at Longhorn Village.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 3, at 3:00 p.m., at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn's name to the First Tee of Greater Austin and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
