

Our beloved mother, Cecelia Sosa Varela, age 84, was called to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 4, 2018. She passed away peacefully, with her family around her at Christopher House, Austin, Texas. She was born March 10, 1933, in Austin, Texas.
Cecelia is survived by her loving children, Cecelia Ann Sensing, Irene Sosa (Ree), Sandra Orosco, Thomas Esquivel (Dee), and Janie Varela (Marycel); her 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings: Jesse Sosa, Gloria Nava, John Sosa (Maria), Ophelia “Corky” Ivey (Bob), Chris Sosa (Anita), and Pauline “Penny” McGee. She is predeceased by her husband, Abel C. Varela; her parents, Jesus and Maria Juana Sosa; and her sister, Celsa “Sally” Morrison.
Cecelia was a 27 year Breast Cancer survivor, and fought Pancreatic Cancer with as much strength, dignity, and grace the Lord gave to her. She taught her children many lessons of love, compassion, strength, and perseverance. Her final wishes were to see peace and love among the world.
The family is forever grateful to our angel Nurse, Kathleen Floyd, in her compassionate and loving care of our mother, Hospice Austin, and The Christopher House.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018, with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018, also at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks, with interment to immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Cecelia's memory to Hospice Austin.
