After retirement from the Marine Corps, Charles worked for Tracor Aerospace designing defense electronics systems for combat helicopters.

Charles obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education and Mathematics from Southwest Missouri State University to which he added a Master of Science in Industrial Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Also, he is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Advanced Armor Officer Course.
Charles was feisty, opinionated, and unbelievably detailed when building or designing just about anything. His mathematical expertise was never-ending, and his opinions were free on many matters. Over the years his love of dogs was evident by his adored ‘Trooper’ and the travels of his animals across the United States. However, Kay’s many cats had to complete boot camp before entering the household compound, and the competition was fierce. He was an avid Longhorn sports fan with a love of swimming, basketball, and women’s volleyball. He was always available, well researched, and provided free assistance, though UT never sought him out for head coaching positions, including football. Additionally, he shared his love of hunting and fishing on the Texas coast with his kids and grandkids. Yes, the trophy fish hangs on the wall as a reminder of winning the Championship Fishing Tournament.
The family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation for the great care and compassion received by Dr. Mathew Meneeghan and Leah Wolf, APRN of Texas Oncology. And to his neighbor George and family who truly are the kindest people in the neighborhood.
Charles will be interned at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas at the Columbarium, as it symbolizes tradition, honor, and remembrance. A memorial service will be scheduled in the future. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Austin Pets Alive, 1156 W Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78703.
