

Charles Bush was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and grew up in Beaver, Oklahoma graduating from high school in 1960. He attended Panhandle A & M College (now OPSU) on athletic scholarship. He was a member of a high school state championship team and the outstanding lineman in a college bowl game. He was being inducted into the OPSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Lt. Bush entered the U.S. Army in 1965 as an Ordnance officer and remained active duty for 30 years. He was a Vietnam veteran. He was honored to have commanded 3 companies, the 66th Maintenance Battalion, and the DISCOM of the 2nd Armored Division. His awards include the Legion of Merit with three oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star and multiple others. Colonel Bush retired as the Director of Logistics from III Corps, Fort Hood, in 1995.
Charlie loved woodworking and used his skills making furniture, dollhouses, and multiple projects requested by his family and friends. He donated many wooden toys that have brightened the eyes of children around the world taken on church mission trips. His hand crosses have supported many in their times of need.
Charlie was a kind, caring gentleman and influenced many lives. He was a member of Westlake Presbyterian and an ordained elder and deacon. He served Bluebonnet chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution as president for six years and was the Commander of the Austin chapter of the Order of the World Wars at the time of his death.
Charlie moved to his heavenly home December 8, 2020. He leaves his wife Jan of 57.5 years and two daughters, Krista (Sean) and Tracey (Mike) as well as sisters Mary Frances (Martin) and Phyllis (Don), a host of nieces and nephews and their families and friends around the world.
