It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father Charles William Dubie of Austin, Texas. The son of the late Orville and Eleanore Dubie, he was born in South Carolina. Dad grew up in Toccoa, Georgia where he worked for Dubie Clark / Coats and Clark side by side with his father Orville who he loved, admired and greatly missed after his passing. Dad went on to marry and have three children: son Charles William (Chip) Dubie Jr, Daughter Aimee Suzanne Dubie (Butt), Daughter Lauren Elizabeth Dubie (Taggart).
Dad worked and retired from the State of Texas Comptroller’s office after 20 years. Dad spent his time playing golf, camping, fishing, gardening and composting, watching his daughter Lauren play kickball and ice skate, watching his favorite football teams the Georgia Bulldogs “GO DAWGS” and Texas Aggies “GIG’ EM”. He loved playing with his grand pups Mollie May and Bruiser Gene who greatly miss him. One of Dad's favorite things was watching Jeopardy, and God help you if you interrupted him watching Alex Trebek or Ken Jennings ask the questions, he loved getting the answers right and loved it when others did too. He loved getting up early in the morning, having a cup of coffee and watching the sun come up, he would often tell us that’s the best time of the day. Dad loved playing golf, he even attended the Masters after his daughter Suzanne was born. Dad loved the family Lake house “Camelot” on Lake Reburn in Georgia where he watched his children swim and ski and spend precious time on the family pontoon boat. Camelot was a big part of Dad; he and his dad spent many hours expanding the lake house putting down flooring, adding on the boat house, and workshop behind the cabin. He also loved playing cards, having night caps and listening to the jukebox and player piano with close friends and family at Camelot. Dad wanted to do more after retirement, but in 2003 dad suffered a stroke, and for many years he resided in Austin, Texas with his daughter Lauren and her fiancé Justin “Tiny” who spent many years taking the best care of him and making so many cherished memories.
Anyone who knew dad knew he was the sweetest and kindest man; dad made so many friends who adored him wherever he went. As we say goodbye to dad, the family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Cameron King for all the years taking the best care of Daddy that gave us more years to make a lot more memories. Gracy Woods for the care and compassion they showed dad in the last few months and days, Sonder Hospice especially his nurses Jessica & Brenda for the excellent and compassionate care they showed dad in his final months, days, hours.
Dad is preceded in death by his father and mother Orville and Eleanor Dubie, brother Joe Dubie, his son Matthew Edward Shelton, brother-in-law Charles Travis.
Dad leaves behind to cherish his memory Charles William Dubie Jr., Ammie Suzanne Dubie (Butt), Grandsons John and Matthew Butt of Georgia, Lauren Elizabeth Dubie (Taggart), Fiancé Justin Brummer.
