Dr. Charles Edwin Ferrin, beloved Austin physician, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was born December 18, 1924 in Haverhill, MA to Dr. William and Elizabeth Ferrin. During WWII he served with an Army medical unit in France. After graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Geology, he attended the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. For 44 years, he practiced family medicine in Austin with integrity, humor and compassion. He loved being a physician, dreamed about being a better golfer and excelled at being a husband, father and friend. Charlie devoted his life to serving others; he was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. He is survived by Jeanne, his wife of 57 years; sister, Peggy Stevens; daughter, Flavia Gaskin and husband Tim, daughter, Beth Williams and husband Wayne; and grandchildren, Katie, Ryne, Jeff, Maddie and Abby. A celebration of his life is pending.
