Charles Cowden Landers, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Horseshoe Bay on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He was born in Abilene, Texas on June 22, 1930 to Joseph Meredith Landers and Emily Yoes Landers.
Grandpa Charlie had six great-grandchildren with #7 due in March; four grandchildren and two daughters. He was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers.He was preceded in death his wife of 38 years, Aylene Lile Landers.
He is survived by Cynthia Landers Stryk and her husband, Gary Stryk, and Nancy Landers Tilson and husband, Steve Tilson; grandchildren are David Stryk and wife, Tiffany and their children, Luca and Isla; Kathleen Tilson McKinney and husband, Steven and their children Kara, Joy, and Isaac; Carolyn Stryk Whiddon and husband, Darik and Grayson James due in March; Rachel Tilson Elizondo and husband, John and their daughter Juliana; and longtime friend and traveling companion Patricia Boline.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
