Charles Edward Yates

October 2, 1938 – December 19, 2022
Obituary of Charles Edward Yates
IN THE CARE OF

Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home

Charles (Chuck) Edward Yates, of Volente Texas passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the age of 84.

Chuck was born on October 2, 1938, to Carl and Eunice Yates in Center Point, Arkansas and was the second oldest of five children. After graduating from Nashville High School, he attended the University of Arkansas to study Civil Engineering and later in his career attended MIT Sloan Fellows MBA program. He was an officer at AT&T where he reached the ranks of Senior Vice President before he retired and moved to Austin, TX in 1995.

Everything about Chuck was larger than life. Big in stature, an even bigger personality, and generous. He was a gentle giant that saw the best in people and was always ready to help a friend in need at the drop of a hat. He was a loving husband to his wife, Gayle until she passed away in 1998, a doting father, and proud Papa to his 5 grandchildren. He accumulated many friends over the years, each of whom always had a great “Chuck” story.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Phil and Larry Yates, his sister, Rena Albright, and his wife, Gayle Yates. He is survived by his daughter, Charmaine Enriquez and her husband, Alex, his son Chad Yates and his wife Diana, his brother, Ronnie Yates, and his five grandchildren: Noah, Sabrina, and Olivia Enriquez and Carter and Natalie Yates.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at at later date after the holidays to remember him.
