Charlotte Feuer of Austin passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was born in Toronto in 1915, and moved to Miami Beach in the early 1920's. She was a self proclaimed "women's libber," being one of the first women to own and drive a car. Living in Hollywood, CA in the 1930's, she rubbed elbows with many in the "motion picture business," including going on a road trip to Mexico with Gene Kelly. She made aliyah to Israel in 1951, where she met Oscar, the love of her life. Together, in 1960 in Miami Beach, they opened a health food store, with a focus on nutrition that was ahead of its time. With their family they celebrated Shabbat each week -- Charlotte relocated to Austin to be with her family in 1995. Throughout her life, she was active in the Jewish community, in chapters of Hadassah, and Sisterhood. Charlotte was known as a vivacious and strong-willed person, and was a true extrovert. She was 99.
Charlotte Besvinick Feuer, was the cherished wife for 41 years of Oscar Feuer, who preceded her in death; honored mother of Susan and Eric Broockman, of Los Gatos, California; respected grandmother of David, of San Francisco, and Lindsay Broockman Palazuelos and Daniel Palazuelos, of Boston; cherished sister of Sidney Besvinick, of Boca Raton, Florida.
