She was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Francis and Dorothy Stehling and she comes from a long line of strong German roots. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many.
Charlotte and her husband lived in South Austin all their married life. They were a few weeks shy of their 60th anniversary. Charlotte adored her grandchildren, and they absolutely loved their “Mimi.”
Charlotte had a fulfilling career with the Internal Revenue Service, serving for 42 years before retiring in January 2007. During her time at the IRS, she also dedicated her time to volunteering for Texas Performing Arts (TPA), starting in 1986. Her dedication led her to become a House Manager in 1993, and she continued working for TPA until this year. Charlotte's passion for volunteering extended to The Long Center and Zach Theatre as well.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband, Dayton Klein, her daughter Lesa Bailey and husband James Bailey, her son Shawn Klein and wife Erica Klein, her grandson Cade Klein, her granddaughter Lily Klein, and her siblings Gail Fontenot, Ricky Stehling, and Kimberly Stehling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Dorothy Stehling.
Services for Charlotte will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish in Austin, Texas. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 11:00 am.
