I have worked with Christina for the last 5 years at McNeil. She was one of the first people to greet me when I first came here. She was the sweetest lady to talk to.  She gave the best hugs. She even told me she was a hugger. She gave the best hugs and luckily I was able to get one last hug before she left. I am sure going to miss her. My condolences go out to her beautiful family.

My deepest condolences to all Christina's family. I am lucky enough to have known her for over 30 years since we first worked together at Brackenridge.  She was an amazing nurse, a vibrant woman, and a loving soul who will be deeply missed by so many.

I had the pleasure of having Mrs. Wawack for Health Science. Anytime she walked in a room it lit up. I’m forever greatful to have known her. May she rest in peace <3

Mrs. Wawack was an amazing teacher, she was always quick to help her students and even in her sickest moments she was on her feet to help us.
She was very kind and understanding, everyone could always tell she cared. She put in so much time and effort into her students, even if some of us didn't always notice, but the ones who didn't sure do now.
I will always remember her, even though I only had her for half a school year, it was the greatest half a school year of all my grades. She always encouraged me in my career path, and she always fought for me with my 504 plan.
There was one time, I took a test, but the school system lost it. I was able to prove I took the test but they wouldn't search for it. Mrs Wawack fought for me, through all of her efforts, she fought. I eventually retook the test and passed that time, all thanks to her support and help.
I loved her, and I'm sure everyone else did too.

No amount of words are enough to express my love and gratitude for you Mrs. Wawack! I’m so lucky to have had the privilege to learn from you, be your first student at McNeil, and to have spent so many years loving you! You lit up every single room you walked into and taught me how to love big, something I’ll carry forward everyday. The world was a better place because you were in it. I’ll miss you forever. Thank you for changing my life. Sending love and my deepest condolences to all of her loved ones.

William always made the point to explain to his friends she loved him more, she was his substitute mum. His Godmother.

These two could kick the ball for hours, we loved it,  it also meant hours of us together rolling on the green grass....

We spent weeks planning our Easters and loved every moment if it. Last time, it was a Christmas together, we didn't know it was the last time we were celebrating us and our families. Thank you God for making that happen. The boys were grown. Their friendship even stronger. We enjoyed seeing our boys together so much, their connection deepening with time. Christina and I danced that Christmas and of course laughed with Steve as our "Super DJ". 
A glorious day.

Christina and I adopted each other from the moment we met. Far away from our families of birth, we created our own. She loved me uncondionially, I loved her back the same. A light in my heart has gone out forever. I will chose to remember us during our countless picnics at Rodin, laughing and giggeling as Benji and William were kicking the ball. Steve, Benji and all the Grandinetti clan, you are my family. I just love her always and her forever.

I'm Yeonwoo. We are truly grateful for all that you taught us during that time. I remember the day I took a medical terminology class last year. You helped me, especially when I was struggling with language problems. I really miss you, Ms. Wawack.... 



Dear. Yeonwoochang

My name is Lone Lindsteen and I had the good fortunes of meeting Christina back in the early 1990’ties in NYC when we worked together as nurses at NYU Medical Center in Manhattan. The day Christina started is still so clear in my memory. What a breath of fresh air & light. There she was with her beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and contagious laughter- and most of all an easygoing friendliness that reached out to all of us and certainly defrosted quite a few cool New Yorkers. She and I instantly bonded, I myself being a foreigner from Denmark, and we quickly developed a very special friendship across age and cultural differences. This is now more than 30 years ago. We kept in touch after Christina left NYC and later met in Austin, where I had the the pleasure of meeting Nicholas & Janet in Spicewood and experienced real Southern hospitality Grandinetti style. Years later we met more times in Paris and once in Copenhagen. My husband and I were honoured to be invited to Christina & Steven’s wedding and to meet the extended family. Our long distance friendship made visits too few and too rare, but our emotional ties were solid and based on mutual love surpassing geographical borders. Rest in peace my beautiful friend. You are forever in my heart Christina.

My deepest condolences to the family. Christina was a ray of sunshine, always smiling and seeing the positive side in all situations. We would laugh together, making jokes in French about the silly aspects of our job as teachers. I will miss her optimism and friendship. Rest in peace, dear Christina!

I only had Mrs. Wawack this year and only had little time with her, yet she was the sweetest teacher I've had in a while. She made me feel so safe and appreciated. Her bubbly mood made any room light up greatly. We bonded quickly as I had Leukemia when I was younger and knew what she was going through. She was so strong and determined to teach my class even when she was going through so much. I will always look up to her and remember her forever. 

You will always have a place in my heart, Mrs. Wawack. May you rest in peace.🤍🎗️

Tina will forever be in the hearts of the 6C nurses/staff. Taking care of her was a privilege and the highlight of my nursing career. It’s not everyday you meet someone who is still putting others before themselves when they are sick.  She lit up the floor with her contagious smile and laughter. I would find any spare second or make up any excuse to go into her room to talk to her. She was the best to ever do it. I’ll love you forever Tina. ♥️♥️

Coming into the medical field has always been a dream for me, regardless of how hard I need strive to achieve my goal I will do by any means necessary. Mrs. Wawack made this dream into a journey and I will forever be blessed to have had a teacher as great as her. Her kindness and her passion for teaching kids should be studied and put in a good place. She was loved by a lot and when I pass my CCMA in April, I will be sure to do it in her name and accomplish everything she would’ve wanted from me. I was a Westlake High School Classmate of hers and always loved hanging out with Tina and listening to her laughter. She was such a kind soul and a beautiful friend and classmate to others. I will miss her greatly and I became a better person just by knowing her. Thank You Tina for all the great and wonderful memories you gave us all.

Wonderful memories cross my mind most days. We’ll laugh together again my friend.

Hi, my name is Halynd, I’m a Junior and I had the blessing of having Mrs.Wawack for 2 years. 

She wasn’t just a teacher to me, she was someone I looked up to as a friend. She was always there for me and my anxiety, accepting who I was and helping me navigate the worries and troubles I had. She never failed to say that she loved us, never failed to make us laugh every time we had her class with her “tell me something good” song, and just overall always had a positive attitude even during her harsh chemo.

I’m never going to forget her, and I’m so glad that I was blessed to get to know her and love her while I could.
 I will never forget the amazing moments I had with her, even when I was in tears.
 I will never forget the huge smile on her face when she told my dad how proud she was of me, and how she sees my love for helping people. 

She may be gone, but never forgotten. Rest easy, and I know that you have so many people who love you Mrs. Wawack.🤍

Christina is the kindest, most loving and vibrant woman. Her Infectious laugh and beautiful smile will forever be in my heart❤️
