

Clarice Schrott of Briarcliff, TX. passed away on March 17, 2010 at the age of 87. Claire was born on December 12, 1922 in Evansville, MN. Claire is preceeded in death by her husband of 32 years, Richard James Schrott, Sr. in May of 1976, her daughter, Judith Ann Schrott and her brother, Kenneth Orvin Carlson. She is survived by her identical twin sister, Claudia West of Garden Grove, CA; sons, Richard J. Schrott, Jr. and wife, Simone, Michael E. Schrott and daughter, Barbara L. Paul and husband, James Paul, and her only grandson, Richard Lee Paul, all from the Austin area. After graduating from Fargo Business College in 1942, Claire and her twin sister, Claudia, moved to our nation's capital. During World War II, she worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C. She and her twin sister caused some confusion with the couriers at the Civil Service Commission because they worked in two different offices. Claire and Dick married in 1944 and had their four children in Rockville and Bethesda Maryland. Claire, Dick, Michael and Barbara moved to Austin, TX. in 1966 and then out to Briarcliff, TX. in 1972. She enjoyed raising her family, golfing, playing bridge, bowling and traveling. She bowled in the VA league for 35 years on the same team and held a 158 average. She returned to Evansville, MN every summer to spend time with her twin sister, Claudia. Being one of the Carlson twins led to a sort of "celebrity status" in the small farming community in Minnesota. She kept close ties to her family and friends in Minnesota. Claire was very happy, friendly and loved by all who met her. The family expresses thanks to the staff of The Summit at Lakeway for their loving and professional care of Claire. She will be buried in Evansville, MN. next to her parents, George and Clara Carlson. A small memorial service will be held at the Briarcliff Community Center on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
