My son Greg B. (USMC) was a close friend of your son and you can be assured that he will not be forgotten.  Neither will his friends and family. He lived an honorable life and nothing can change that fact.

When Nicole told me about your loss of Clark, I had sent a message which I  fear never got to you. Today, exactly a year after his death, a note arrived in my email that had been sent by a friend of Clark. Such a reminder on the anniversary of his passing is rather eerie and tells us that God wants us to remember and pray for you and your family. During my probationary period as a firefighter in the Hamilton Fire Department, I would always go and study since it was a nice quiet place.  Some days Clark would be there after coming from a long practice from Lacrosse and go straight to work making review sheets or even reading. Clark's motivation to become a naval aviator also inspired me to become an officer in the military someday and when I heard about his passing something changed in me.  I feel like I need to achieve my goal and make Clark proud of me. So glad I got to meet him and see him in that marine uniform at Colgate graduation. - Christian Zegarra, Hamilton, NY

Clark and I knew each other from a tennis and golf camp in Maine as teenagers over a decade ago. He always was an outstanding individual. Supportive, had great integrity and helped everyone around him. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I wish the Perkins family strength and comfort in the weeks ahead.

Dear Perkins Family,
I am a Marine mom whose son remembers Clark from OCS in the summer of 2017.  I wish I could ease your pain. My heart tells me that the note written so eloquently by Leslie B (Sept 1) provides a measure of relief for you to know that Kevin and many unnamed servants offered emergency care, prayers and comfort in Clark’s time of need.  He would have done the same for anyone else.  My prayers are with you and Charlotte.

I met Clark at Colgate. I was first introduced to him after he had finished OCS as I was one of the former enlisted Marine students, and later had the privilege of volunteering at the Hamilton Fire Department with Clark. 
Even though Clark and Collin (his teammate and fellow HFD member) kept lacrosse as their top priority, they were at the department and on calls as often as any of the student volunteers, which is a testament to their commitment to helping out in the community with their limited free time. 
I have more than a few memories of Clark on calls, in particular a carbon monoxide alarm at the President’s House in which he was adamant that we make cocktails and a fire at the coop after which the two of us carried a large fan a long distance only to discover later that it had adequate wheels. 
Clark always had the correct attitude, either uplifting or dark and funny to match the situation.  He proved to me that I could depend on him and I was proud that he became a Marine Officer. 
I’m glad to have known Clark.

Clark was such a positive influence on his classmates in high school.  He built them up and made them feel better about themselves.  He was kind without exception, both to his friends and to those whose existence others did not even care to acknowledge.  I am praying for him and for you.

I can only echo the enormous outpouring of love that my classmates have shared. Clark was beloved at Andover, and left a lasting impression on all of his classmates, whether close friends or simply acquaintances. His kindness was contagious, and he made everyone feel both welcome and important. I can’t begin to imagine how many lives he touched throughout his life. Thank you for sharing Clark with us. We were so lucky to know him.

Damn, damn, damn........that's all I seem to be able to mutter upon hearing this very sad news. 

As a classmate of Chip Perkins, I can only imagine the pain the family is going through. When the dominoes do NOT fall in chronological order, it is very disturbing. It is even more intensely disturbing for someone who never had children of my own.

I can only offer my thoughts, my condolences, and my hopes that time will pass and the surf will continue to flow.......ugh.


Clark was my first friend at Andover. I remember sitting in the library with him struggling through our first math homework and getting incredibly worked up. Clark then, and every other time I seemed down, was always there and put a smile on my face. He had that way with people. 

I was fortunate enough to remain friendly with Clark throughout Andover and even after. While I was at Hamilton, he was just down the road at Colgate and we stayed in touch. Our first Andover/Exeter as alums we drove “home” together and missed the exit for the Mass Pike. It is only with him that I could have laughed so hard or enjoyed such a misstep. 

Clark was a light where ever he went, no matter what the circumstances.  



I had the privilege of getting to know Clark as a patient.  He was motivated, engaged, smart, and kind.   This is nothing short of a massive tragedy and loss for those who had the privilege of knowing him.   

Although I have only known Clark for a short time, his warm personality and kindness consumed every room he entered in my practice.   We all grieve from the tragic loss of this wonderful young man. 

I would like to express my condolences to every one of his family members and friends.

Clark was a light to those around him. He exemplified what it means not to be corrupted by the world around, but to stand firm in the grace God has given each of us, and fight for and protect others around us with integrity. I remember how Clark would refuse to engage in gossip and the slander of others in an environment where this kind of talk was the norm. He protected others in this way. He always found something good or encouraging to say about others. I am thankful to have known Clark in this life.

I don’t think anybody who knew Clark and Charlotte together, his family, his friends and his huge adopted marine family have yet to truly  absorb the enormity of this loss.    May some of these beautifully written notes bring comfort in their consistent underlying  respect and admiration they have expressed for Clark.  To have a son,  a fiancé, a brother, a friend who commands these sentiments be a reminder to all of you  that he was that boy, that man, that one love of your life, that marine because all of you made him feel loved, protected, nurtured and special in everything you did for him and with him.
I only met Clark briefly in some shared moments at Martha Graham events but the happiness of his newly combined family along with the twinkle in his eyes when with Charlotte were so obvious.  My heart breaks for all of you.  Take care of each other and know we are all there for you in our prayers and unspoken  words.

Dear Perkins Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss.  I have two grown children of my own and I truly cannot imagine what you must be experiencing at this time. My name is Leslie.  I and my fiancé, Kevin were there with Clark at the time of his passing.  We live on the island and had walked out on the jetty to photograph the waves and the beach.  I have thought about that day and Clark every single day since.  I wanted you to know he was prayed over constantly and he was not alone.  Kevin helped to get him to a safer place so that he could be treated as quickly as possible.  Immediately Clark was surrounded by people that tried desperately to save his precious life and he was treated with the utmost respect and care.  The lifeguards arrived very quickly, within a few short minutes, and took over life saving measures immediately any without hesitation. They never stopped, not even for a second until Clark could be taken to an emergency vehicle that waited for him to take their place.  
Kevin, nor I knew Clark personally or of him before that day.  He and all of your family have stayed in our prayers every single day.  You may reach out to me if you would like to.  Our thoughts and prayers will continue.  Sincerely and respectfully, Leslie

I loved teaching all the Perkins kids.  So different in their learning styles, and yet so connected.  What always struck me about Lucia, Sam and Clark was that they seemed to genuinely enjoy each other's company and revel in each other's successes. I'll never forget the first time I met Clark at the Martha Graham gala in 2017. We started chatting and he told me didn't know much about the company but was always up for a new experience. He was tagging along with family that night and having a blast. I then watched as this young man, in a room full of strangers and professional dancers nonetheless, hit the dancefloor and started tearing it up like no one was watching. A few minutes later, he was leading Charlotte across the dancefloor. They danced the rest of the evening and were inseparable from that moment on. It was impossible to look at Clark and Charlotte and not recognize their love for what it was -- passionate, true, forever.

Clark and our son were together at naval flight school.  Clark’s character and commitment to serve are evident in the life choices he had already made.  May that be a source of strength for you and may he be in everlasting peace.

I have been in contact with Clark on occasion after his FCDS days, and I even have a video of him wishing me a happy birthday a couple of year ago.   Clark was a wonderful person, and there really are no words for  this sadness. I wish there was something I could do.

I would like to share a memory of your special son. 
Clark, Lucia, and Sam visited us for a day in Nantucket several years ago, while on their way to the Cape.
We all spent the day on the beach. Emily was thrilled to see them, and our older son Mac thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie. 
I had a very special experience that day. One that has stayed with me throughout the years as Emily and her childhood friends grow and spread their wings across the globe.
I knew Sam and Lucia from Emily, but that day, Clark and I spent a few hours talking. What a pleasure it was, I so impressed. We spoke of friends, of the military he was hoping to join, of family and of faith. His manner exuded kindness, integrity, grace and a lively spirit! Throughout our conversation I kept thinking of what a remarkable young man he was. As the years went on and I enjoyed seeing his pictures and accomplishments online through pictures, I always thought of that day, it would make me smile and warm my heart. I felt that the earth was a better place with such a fine young man.
He touched my heart, as I am sure he did with countless others.

Clark will be greatly missed by the Martha Graham dancers. His energy and support was always so loved to all of us dancers. After one particularly difficult show, where I didn’t have my best performance, Clark was waiting for the dancers (Charlotte), at the stage door. When I came out, he gave the biggest smile, hug, and “congrats on a great show,” and really made my night turn around. These little moments of love from Clark are what will stay with all of us. 
We know how much our Charlotte loved Clark, and we will be there for her all throughout this most trying time. In all the tough times and the joyous times, Clark’s spirit will be there dancing with us all around the world. 

My heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Clark's family and friends. Although I have never met Clark, my son counted him as a great friend and leader. Clark may no longer be with us physically but hie will endure in the hearts of many -  even those whom he never actually met. Fortitude to the survivors and  fair winds and following seas to Clark, may he rest in eternal peace.

I met Clark in Pensacola last year. He was a great friend to my son Quinn as they went through the Marine Corps aviation program together in Pensacola and Corpus Christi.
