He was born December 17, 1924 in Lyons, Burleson County, Texas to Adolph Lloyd and Minnie Julie (Lacina) Brinkmann and was one of five children. He joined the Army July 19, 1944 and obtained the rank of Corporal. He retired in 1982 to enjoy a life of fishing on Lake Travis, playing golf on many courses, especially Lions Municipal, "Muny" to him. There was always time for Forty-Two with friends. Cleburn and Joy traveled to Seattle, Washington; San Francisco, California; Washington, D.C.; and their more frequent destination, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Cleburn never met a stranger and he was known for his hard work, sacrifice, generosity and kindness. He was "one of a kind" and a great example for his family.
He is survived by his sons, L. Dwight Brinkmann (Carol) of Leander; C. Bruce Brinkman (Kathleen) of Falls Church, Virginia. The family would like to thank Sedro Trail Assisted Living for their loving care. Cleburn loved everyone there, both residents and staff. Special thanks to Megan; they shared a unique bond. We are grateful to Hope and Grace Hospice for providing the absolute best additional care and comfort the last few months, especially Jen (R.N.) who cared for her "Clemmy" so lovingly while updating and supporting family, every step of the way. Also, thank you to Maria (CNA) for her strength and tender care. Having Josh (Chaplin) visit frequently; learn of his military service, love of family and his faith was such a blessing. We are thankful he is able to complete the journey, escorting Cleburn to his final resting place. Frequent and faithful visits from his nephew, Mark were so appreciated.
