Jane was born on October 14, 1940 in Porum, Oklahoma to Charles and Maudie (Cook) Whitman and grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma where she graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1958.
Jane was a wonderfully funny, supportive and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her love and laughter will be desperately missed by all who knew her.
Family was everything to Jane. Even if you weren’t a ‘blood’ relative and Jane loved you, by golly, you were family, for better or worse.
Jane was the center of the family, who magnetically attracted those who loved her to draw near, eat, laugh and love…a lot.
She was a loyal friend; a voracious reader; a generous patron of other’s dreams; a protector and benefactor of small, furry terriers; an encourager of exploration; a welcomer of displaced souls; never heard to complain; forever more concerned with others comfort and wellbeing than her own; always persevering; appreciative of small favors and forgiving of large slights.
Jane is lovingly survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Borskey of Austin, Texas; her sons, Randy, and his wife, Kathy, of Huntington, Indiana, and Mark, and his wife, Chrissy, of Austin, Texas; grandson, Eric Martin and his wife, Mandy, of Fort Drum, New York; great-grandson, Josiah Spath of Huntington, Indiana; Sister, Vel Gilbert of Ft. Myers, Florida; her brothers, W.T. Whitman of Checotah, Oklahoma and Jerry and his wife, Yvonne, Whitman, of Wichita Falls, Texas; her nieces, who were more like daughters: Kristin, Kelly and Ashley, and her niece who was more like a sister, Kay; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Charles and Jane’s dog, Bullet, was especially dear to her in her final months, constantly at her side, comforting and protecting her.
