

Clinton Lynch Smith of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully with family by his side under the loving care of Altenheim Hospice House on Monday, July 30, 2012. Clinton was born on February 29, 1936 in Fort Worth Texas to Key Clinton and Nora Smith.
He is predeceased by his son, David Mark Smith.
He is survived by his loving and beautiful wife, Mary Jo Smith; his sister, Mary Jo Thomas; three daughters, Kasey Jo, Georgeanne and Chrissy; and one son, David Kirkpatrick. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, David, Alex, Mariah, George, Mikey and Sophia.
He grew up in the Ft Worth/Arlington area and later moved to West Texas, graduating from Odessa High School. He was a U.S. Veteran that served in both the Air Force and the Marine Corps. His many accomplishments included Eagle Scout, Sea Scout, Order of De Molay, Sharp Shooter and National Honor Society. His career included over 19 years of service at the University of Texas at Austin including recognition of long and devoted service overseeing Paisano Ranch operations. His great pride was his family and he was passionate in his love for UT Football, airplanes, golf and John Wayne. Clinton loved architecture, chemistry and had an entrepreneurial spirit. Clinton was also an artist and a lover of the outdoors including wildlife and gardening and had a special attachment to his pets. He had particularly fond memories of his Boy Scout camping summers spent at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He enjoyed working with his father, an architect, in the home building business in Odessa and later in the Austin and Georgetown area. Together they started one of the first custom solar home companies in Texas. He will be dearly missed and loved in the hearts of all his friends and family.
The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
