The bells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling,
For you but not for me,
And the little devils how they sing-a-ling-a-ling,
For you but not for me.
Oh death, where is thy sting-a-ling-a-ling,
Oh grave, thy victory?
The bells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling
For you but not for me.
My father wanted this British soldier's WWI song on his gravestone. Throughout his long life, every time he'd talk of his passing, he'd laugh and quote this song.
Air Force Ret. Major Clive Alexander Lynn passed from this earthly realm on October 21, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
Another one of the Greatest Generation gone although if he read this sentence, he'd protest the term because like many of that generation, they didn't see themselves as such.
He served his country in the military for 20 years. At the age of 40, he returned to finish his college education earning his Master's Degree in Education. For the next 20 years, he served the future generations as a High School physics and math teacher at McCallum and LC Anderson High Schools.
With his passing, he follows the love of his life, Trudy Syzmanski, and his second wife, Rosina Gaylord.
He is survived by his daughters, Pam and Beverly Lynn; his grandchildren, Logan Ralph, Fontaine Schibi, and his great grandchildren, Nolan and Stella Schibi, Rowan Ralph, and Santiago Grogan.
He will be buried with Military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209 on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held at Clive's home on October 28th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
